What made you decide to be an artist? How did it all begin?
I realised I was interested in drawing and painting since I was a child. I realised that that was the only thing I was interested in, painting and art. I really think that my profession fulfills me.
What does it mean (for you) to be an artist?
Being an artist means being commited and working every day on your paintings (artwork) and yourself as an individual. Being aware of your consciousness, observing and summing the reality and transmitting that on the canvas (or some other way of expressing yourself). I think that the artist should open people's minds and lead them to think about the world and themselves.
What are the main themes in your art? What inspires you?
I explore the identity as part of deconstruction in my art. I start with an identity as a concept observed from many different angles (individual, artist, art, audience...) relying on its meaning as identification which is confronted with the concept of deconstruction. Trying to reconcile identity and deconstruction I assume that these are not completly different things but only two different ways of understanding one unique substance.
Tell us about your studio, working, space, proces, habitis, special rituals?
My studio is locateted in Novi Sad, Serbia in the centre of the city. The space is big and bright. The first thing I do before I start painting, I read about it and that is how I begin the whole process. Afterwards, I prepare the material, I proceed the process from the previous day and I create drawings for my next art.
What is the hardest part of being an artist, and how do you overcome it?
During the creating phase every artist goes through a creating crisis which he/she overcomes when the creating process is over and the art piece is exhibited.
Your favorite piece of art?
My favorite piece of art is Picasso's painting Guernica because the painting connects history events and art in the best way.
What do you think about today's art and the direction its going to?
I think that nowadays in art there is a crisis but, taking into consideration other periods art did not have convenient conditions for development in the past either, nevertheless thanks to the artists’ persistence art continued to live and develop.
